Bannister Miles 70th Anniversary Text
Join us for a day celebrating
the iconic mile and Sir Roger Bannister's legacy!
Athletes of all levels are invited to Bannister Miles to race this historic distance at Iffley Road, Oxford, finishing at the very spot where Bannister made history.
On Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May 2024, Oxford will be celebrating the 70th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister running the first sub-four-minute mile. This will take place at the venue where it all began, Iffley Road in 1954.

Celebration of events

Mass participation road mile down the High Street and finishing on Iffley Road. Open to runners of all abilities. 

Time: 9am - 11am

Bannister Community Mile

Track miles on the famous Iffley Road Track open to athletes from U13 through to Masters.

Time: 1pm - 6pm

Bannister Track Miles

Whether watching the Community Miles in the morning or heading down to the track to in the afternoon to experience the thrill of mile running and  look through the museum displays, all information can be found here.
